Can I select my donor in a sperm bank?

Most sperm banks advertise a tough selection process of their donors, usually based on their age, drug and sex habits, medical history, etc. Then the possibility of choosing a sperm donor among the sperm bank's candidates very much depends on the legislation of the country. UK laws regulating sperm donation, for instance, tend to be stricter than US ones.

In the UK, the sperm donor might be chosen based on some general criteria, like physical characteristics, race or occupation. US sperm banks are more liberal and allow seeing the pictures of their donors.
