Inside the sleazy world of internet sperm donors.

"I’ve fathered six children this way": Inside the sleazy world of internet sperm donors 5 Jan 2013 21:00 Sunday Mirror investigation finds desperate women searching Facebook and Twitter for donors and men trawling unlicensed sites for free sex WOMEN desperate for babies are searching Facebook, Twitter and other websites for sperm donors – without regulation or even basic safety checks. A Sunday Mirror investigation has found that unlicensed sites are springing up across the internet, providing a hunting ground for men trawling for free sex. The willing donors are preying on the hopes of vulnerable childless women, even telling them natural insemination, known as NI, is more effective than artificial insemination (AI). While licensed sperm-donor clinics have been around for years, would-be mums put off by high costs and red tape are resorting to unlicensed websites.

Govt backs egg and sperm donor ID

IT is up to the states and territories to legislate so that Australians conceived through sperm or egg donations can identify their donors, the federal government says.

The government has backed a Senate committee's call for donor information to be made available but says there is no constitutional power for the Commonwealth to legislate comprehensively in the area.
